Change Font for Composing E-mail

If you are using Outlook or Outlook Express for managing your email, this tip is for you! Have you ever found the font (text style) to be too small or unreadable when you are writing e-mail? Well, for users of Outlook and Outlook Express – which is most of you – there is a solution. If you would like to change the default font that your email program uses when you are writing a message, follow the instructions below…

Outlook 2000/XP

  • Click the Tools menu, then select Options
  • Click the Mail Format tab
  • Make sure the message format is set to HTML
  • Click the Fonts... button
  • Click the Choose Font... button next to each option you would like to change. Select the font size, type, and color, then click OK

Outlook Express

  • Click the Tools menu, then select Options
  • Click the Send tab
  • Make sure the Mail Sending Format is set to HTML
  • Click the Compose tab
  • Click the Choose Font... button next to Mail:. Select the font size, type, and color, then click OK

NOTE: These changes will not affect your outgoing e-mail if you are using pre-formatted “stationery” for your outgoing messages.

Any sufficiently advanced technology is indistinguishable from magic.
